A Family Dinner is an interactive performance that investigates homoerotic roleplaying within the setting of an absurd dinner party. Two characters (played by Eri Miller and Grace Whiteside) act as interchangeable guests, hosts, servers and bystanders sifting through veils of exaggerated performance and real life social scenarios. This performance aims to disrupt the formal associations of dining and “proper” heteronormative social expectations by presenting multiple vignettes of homoerotic dystopian dinner scenes. Audience participation is encouraged, no one will pick up the check, ladies will not wear dresses, and dinner will not be consumed abiding by proper “manners.”
